Step By Step Instruction Guide
Step 1: Write the name of the desired compound in the input box. For eg. "sucrose"
Step 2: Click on "Get Info" button.
A 3 dimensional molecular diagram of the selected compound appears on the canvas.
Along with the 3D model, the following textual information gets displayed:
1) Chemical formula: A representation of a substance using symbols for its constituent elements.
2) Molecular Weight:The weight of a molecule in atomic mass units.
3) Dipole: If a molecule or compound has delocalized positive or negative charges. They're displayed accordingly.
You can also embed the molecule image in the document by clicking the "Embed" option.
Molecule Maker offers two modes to view the molecule: 2D & 3D. Try switching between the two using the buttons given on top.
In addition to textual information, visual information of charge can be seen by clicking on the "Charge" button.
On clicking the button, the charges in the compound gets displayed.
User can see the rotation of molecule in various dimensions by clicking the following buttons:
1) Rotate X: This feature rotates the molecule along the x-axis.
2) Rotate Y: This feature rotates the molecule along the y-axis.
3) Rotate Z: This feature rotates the molecule along the z-axis.
Furthermore, you can hide or unhide the Hydrogen molecules by using the "Hide H" and "Reset View" feature. Hide H: This feature hides all the hydrogen atoms of the molecule.
Reset View: This feature resets the molecule to it's initial state (Position & Scaling)
In addition to this, you can also zoom in and zoom out the entire molecule or any particular section of the molecule. Scroll down to zoom in the molecule and scroll up to zoom out the molecule.
Furthermore, to see a particular section of the zoomed compound press ctrl and middle mouse button simultaneously.
You can also directly upload a .xyz file (Molecular Structure file format) from the local filesystem by clicking on "Browse".
Moreover, you can also see the 2 Dimensional image of the molecule by clicking on 2D. Along with the 2D image, the following data gets displayed-
1) Chemical Formula
2) Molecular Weight
3) Dipole
If you can't find the compound you're looking for, there's a probability that it has not yet been added in our library.
But worry not!
We're constantly adding more and more compounds.
